Do not press too hard on the strings. I know that it is difficult for many beginners and you will probably feel awkward and clumsy, but try your best. Drop

Try practicing with your eyes closed. You will feel very clumsy at first, but the more you do it, the easier it will get. Playing without looking at your left hand constantly is a great skill to have once you have mastered it.
